The City of Troy March was commissioned by the City of Troy, Illinois for the Troy Community Band under the direction of Mr. John Malvin. The march was inspired by Troy's history as an important transportation centers. Located just outside of St. Louis, Troy is on the Westernmost end of the National Road and has been a stop for the Pony Express, a busy railroad hub, and is currently the junction of Interstates 55, 70, and 270.
Donors to the commission include the City of Troy, Allen Adomite (Mayor of Troy), Troy Lion's Club, and the Silver Creek Rotary Club.
